Autumn League 2021-22

Well, that's the first competition over - an autumn league instead of the usual knockout and honours deservedly go to Milly and her rink comprising Charlie Steele at lead, Alicia Smith at 2nd and new member/super sub David Graham at 3rd. An excellent performance - well done to all. Leaders from the first week to the last and just to ensure that they won the title they beat their closest challengers Willie Scott in the final game by 8-3. For Willie that loss was doubly unfortunate since by comprehensively beating Hugh Kennedy on the last night Allan Chapman overtook Willie to claim second place. Congratulations to Allan and his rink of Alex Thomson, Hazel Steele and Ken Gray. For the rest, the final round of games produced a mixture of fortunes. Neil continued his winning form by defeating Ronnie, Jean managed a win over Carol and for Hugh it was another night of misery.

Attention now turns to the Cue competition next week on Tuesday 7 December at 5.15. It is a fun night and for an increasing number of us a chance to practise using the cue - possibly in anticipation of more frequent use in the coming years!!

Thereafter we can rest our curling muscles until Wedneday 5 January and all that now remains is for this reporter to send everyone his best wishes for the festive season.
