It's Secretary Alan's turn for Points

06/02/2020

This season's Points competition took place on Thursday 6 February. For an assortment of reasons - all genuine and approved!! - the numbers participating this year were slightly down but to the 7 who did play, well done and thanks for taking part. Having made his debut in the Points last year it was good to see Douglas Haddow had not been put off by the experience and was back to try again and, of course, the Points would not be the same without Elma Stevenson.

Initially the ice seemed a bit slow but it certainly did not seem to bother Elma who began very strongly but as the afternoon wore on she - and others - showed some signs of tiredness. Nevertheless as a result of her strong start she had accumulated sufficient points to finish a very creditable 3rd with 25 points. The Blairston Medal this year however went to Secretary Alan McKinlay who pipped President David Gray by 1 point, 28 to 27. Not the highest scoring competition but again played in good spirit with much encouragement given to all.

Thanks go to the well wrapped up Geoff Barber and Alex Thomson for scoring and again to the Club for the complimentary ice.
