The club has recently competed in the Ross Low competition at Ayr Ice Rink. It is played as two mini-leagues, followed by a semi-final and final.
In the first game against Troon Portland our rink consisted of Ed Baines (skip), Charlie Steele, Neil Beattie and Ken Ireland. The final score was 9-6 in favour of Troon Portland. Ed advises that whilst that score was reasonably close Troon won 6 ends to A&A's 2. Ed also mentioned he had a few chances but the shots required were of the Kevin Koe type!
In the second game against a strong Gangrels rink. The A&A rink comprised, Ed Baines (skip), Charlie Steele, Ken Ireland and Hugh Kennedy (curling as a reserve for Neil). The game was nip and tuck up to the 6th end where A&A scored a 3. However a 2 for Gangrels in the 7th and a single in the 8th (Ed narrowly not moving a button-hugger sufficiently) ensured the game was peeled. A very competitive game in which all played really hard. So no semi-final for AACC this year.
